i'm still overwhelmed by the toycon experience.
it's all full of jolly goodness!
first off, i got the chance to talk with Digger Mesch of art asylum and have him review my works.
i could hardly stop myself from geeking out, i mean, c'mon man! it's Digger!
he is, to the action figure industry, as the image big 5 is to comicbook industry!
and i have the priveledge and honor to talk to the man, and have him comment on my works.
and you know what's really cool?
he's so gracious and kind and doesn't carry his weight when his talking to you, and he is not arrogant, like some superstars of his stature.
we talked about sculpting techniques, with sculpey, and the advantages of using wax as a medium, and how i have to work more on my anatomy.
( thing is, since i got married, i've been too busy to focus on my anatomy, and it just keeps getting out of proportion.
man, i learned a lot from that guy. i do hope to be able to sculpt jam with him someday. that would be a blast!
so that made my morning.
i get to hang around with THE SCULPEYMAN in his booth, and answered some questions by buyers and prospective sculptors on the use of polymer materials like i'm an expert! well, 2 years of theater experience made me look and sound the part.
and my darna action figure was reserved and eventually sold.
i get to talk with some of the organizers, cool dudes all. i get to rub elbows with the cool GHG gang. wanna see pictures? check out guisadong gulay's site. that's what he promised did'nt he?
and the most satisfying ending to an exciting day, was getting my copy of ELMER and signed by the man, inker extraordinaire and pinoy comics visionary himself, Sir Gerry Alanguilan.
some cool cosplay characters, cool bands...
and that's just day one!

i've read that most toy companies like mc farlane's have factories in china.
